Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. The 17 goals that have been set are related to inequality, health, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice etc which is important that we achieve them all by 2030. For more details, please visit the SDGs website.

Hokkaido Events agrees with the purpose of the SDGs and aims to achieve the goals set by the SDGs through the following activities.

We aim to revitalize the region by using sports events as a tourism resource, and to support the expansion of employment opportunities and the creation of an industrial base at the regional level.

By collaborating with companies in and outside of Hokkaido, local tourist agencies, and related local governments, we will promote Hokkaido and Niseko with bringing in high-quality human resources from outside, we will be able to review the existing system and turn the employees’ attention to the outside world.

2. Enhancement of health and welfare

10. Reduce inequality within and among countries

Taking advantage of its location in the internationally-open rural area, with the Niseko Classic, an international competition setting as a main event, we held events for everyone from local residents to tourists to participate in.

Considering the fundamental differences in physical fitness between different age and gender that exist in sports, we will create an environment in which everyone can easily participate by offering events with concepts that are suitable for each category.

In addition, we will raise awareness of daily exercise habits by actively organizing sports events.

3. Building a sustainable society

13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

In contrast to the Mamachari (city bike), which is synonymous with bicycles for Japanese people, sports bicycles still have a minor role to play.

Sports bicycles are not only eco-friendly, clean, and useful as a means of transportation, but also come in a variety of forms and price ranges, and can be used for a long time depending on maintenance.

By publicizing these characteristics at the events, we will discover potential customers, promote wider use of the technology, and raise awareness of the importance of environmental issues.
